The Study is conducted in the Finfinnee (Addis Abeba) and its environ.
The present Ethiopian government’s policy fundamentally undermines the livelihood and food security of the population not only of the Oromo people but also of others who depend on the Oromo farmers produces. The government policy or lack of policy on the proper disposal of industrial pollutants will have lasting negative effects on the wellbeing of peoples of the region as a whole. The insatiable appetite for individual wealth accumulation of the political elite that heads the present regime is the source of the problem. The Oromia highlands supply most of the waters that the majority of the population of the region including those outside Ethiopia depends upon. Thus polluting the rivers of Oromia will affect the health and general wellbeing of millions peoples downstream for a long time to come unless stopped immediately. In addition the rare fauna and flora species of the region could be lost to the whole world by the devastating effects of the environmental degradation that may be caused by the present practices
