The Ethiopian government is using sweeping anti-terror laws to crack down on journalists critical of the regime. In the last three months, six journalists have been imprisoned, according to the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ).
They include two Swedish journalists - Martin Schibbye and photographer Johan Persson - who were charged a fortnight ago with terrorism. The two men were arrested in early July after crossing from Puntland into Ethiopia's troubled Ogaden region.

ETHIOPIANS IN THE SUDAN FACING DANGER
Andualem Alemayehu, an Ehiopian who had been expressing, over the Eritrean
Television, his disapproval of the Meles Zenawi regime is presently in the
central prison of Khartoum awaiting possible deportation. Andualem had
returned to the Sudan from Asmara and agents of Meles had him arrested
    by the Sudanese security police.
In Damazien town where violent clashes have taken place between rebels and
the Beshir government Ethiopian residents and refugees have been beaten
and jailed en masse by the Sudanese army and police. The frustrated
soldiers have gone on a vengeance spree on Ethiopians though the conflict
